Hwhup The Deans List? The Jason Dean here, bringing an end to the Weekend like it was Phase 4 of the MCU. You had such high hopes heading into it, but in the end, it sucked and all you can do now is find somebody to blame.
Anyways. Let’s get into it.
New Art in my own space
Here’s what I’ve been cooking up in the lab 😎
Another photo I took at Ponytail falls. Who knew that being able to go behind waterfalls would be really cool? I like this composition quite a bit, particularly the symmetry with the waterfall and the trees. The thing I love about this photo, however, is the touch of rock in the top corner. It’s subtle but gives important context for the rushing water.
Heceta Beach was the first stop we made between Eugene and Yachats. It wasn’t quite low tide, but it was definitely getting-low tide, and so we got to see lots of receded water. My favorite kinds of reflections come from water on wet sand, but I usually only get to see them in between when the waves are fleeing back into the water and new waves are emerging from the water; aka a matter of fleeting seconds. It was awesome to essentially see the sand as a static reflective surface, especially with the clear blue sky that we had on this day.
I’ve said it before (and recently); Lake Superior is my Ride-or-Die. But man oh man, seeing the sun set on the ocean is an experience unlike any experience I’ve ever experienced and I can’t wait to do it again 😎
Terrestrial Poems collaboration
One of the coolest- and I mean coolest- collaborations I’ve ever done is happening right now. JJ Brinski, a local poet/thinker/cool dude, has launched a Kickstarter for his new poetry book, Terrestrial Poems, and I’m a part of it!
One of the reward tiers, the ‘Gitche Gumee’ tier, includes four photographs by yours truly. That’s right, folks- if you pledge at this tier to fund this poetry book (which is frankly going to be incredible), you’ll get four (4!) select pieces of my artwork along with some other incredible items!
I can’t tell you how pumped I am to be a part of this project. I’m like ‘Theoden drawing swords with Aragorn’-levels of excited, folks! The four photos are part of a Jason Dean ‘Seasons’ pack, and I worked with Josh to choose four photos to represent the four seasons. Below is one of the photos that will be included (bonus points if you can guess which season this represents):

Keep an eye on my socials for the rest of the photos in the set. The Kickstarter runs through June 4, and there are only 20 ‘Gitche Gumee’ packages available, so don’t wait too long to get yours!
Waves are Wednesdays Preview
Behold: the wave photo I will be sharing on socials this week for Waves are Wednesdays.
Thank you so much, folks! I appreciate your support, encouragement, and you just being you 😊
Shorter one today, but somehow I think you didn’t mind less words and an extra photo 🙂
See you around,
Jason
