Hwhup The Deans List? The Jason Dean here, bringing an end to the Weekend like man…who are we kidding? Weekends are a construct of time, which is itself a construct. Weekends don’t end, Adrian. Nothing ever ends.

Anyways. Let’s get into it.

New Art in my own space

Here’s what I’ve been cooking up in the lab 😎 All three of these images are from my Oregon trip.

Multnomah Falls is over 600 feet high and feels every inch of it. What an incredible sight to behold! Out of the photos I took of the falls, I chose this one to edit because I like the way I framed it; the bridge lower and off to the side, people there to give scale to the bridge which gives scale to the waterfall, can’t see where the waterfall starts and ends so it adds to the mystery.

I talked about this a bit while editing on my Live Stream. If you missed it, you can watch it here.

A strong early contender for my Favoroto of 2026, this was taken from the Cape Perpetua overlook just south of Yachats. I’ve never seen the ocean or the coast from this kind of vantage point and it was one of those moments that made me realize how truly insignificant I am in the grand scheme of things (in a good way though!). Look, I will always stan for Lake Superior and Marquette and my little part of the world, but when you encounter a sight like this, with such power and such beauty at such scale, it resets your understanding of the world.

I took a lot of photos from this vantage point (that, spoilers, will be featured on upcoming Live Streams!), but this one is easily my favorite. It’s like a window to another world.

Out of the three photos I edited this week, this is the one that I was least sure about. It’s an ICM photo from behind Ponytail falls. I love it conceptually, which is why I chose to edit it, but couldn’t figure out how to make it connect with me. My guys from the Details Freaks group chat helped me find a crop that I liked, but I’m still not sure that I love it. Maybe that doesn’t actually matter though. What do you think?

Mother’s Day Craft Show last day!

Today is the last day of the TV6 Mother’s Day Craft Show. I’ll be at the Superior Dome from 11 AM to 4 PM. If you’re a mom looking to spoil yourself, Booth 106 got you. If you are looking for some last minute (last minute at this point 😬) gifts for your mom, Booth 106 is the place to be.

And if you’ve already got your mother a gift, you haven’t fully taken into account that she’s your freaking mother and you haven’t even come close to repaying her for everything that she has ever done for you. So stop by Booth 106 and get her another one.

Waves are Words Artist Reception

Saturday, May 23rd from 1-4 PM (less than two weeks from now!), I will be at The Gallery in Marquette for my first-ever Artist Reception. It will be a fun few hours of looking at art, talking about art, and snacking in the presence of art.

Hope to see you there!

Castle 906 Market dates:

If you’re a summer farmer’s market aficionado, you now have a few more chances to stop by and see me! I’ll be at Castle 906 Market in Negaunee on the following dates:

  • August 9

Stoked to be able to share my work with a new community 😊

Sault Area Arts Center

I am excited to announce that I will be a part of the Artist’s Choice Exhibit at the Alberta House in Sault Ste. Marie. The show runs through June 2 through July 11 with an Artist Reception on June 5.

Stay tuned for more details 😎

100 Day Project=FINISHED

My Bonifas Art Center 100 Day project, ‘We, the songs we’ve sung’ is officially completed.

What an incredible journey it was! I loved ‘An Apple a (100) day(s)’, but this project took me into new, unfamiliar territory and I am undoubtedly a better artist for it. Look for thorough retrospective in a future edition of The Weekender. 😎

Waves are Wednesdays Preview

Behold: the wave photo I’ll be sharing this week on socials for Waves are Wednesdays.

Thanks so much folks! I really appreciate you 😊

Lest you think I forgot what today is…happy Mothers Day, mom (and all the moms!) 😊 Mom’s are pretty awesome- I have one, and I’m willing to bet you do too! Thanks to all the moms (mine especially!), without whom none of this would be possible.

See you around,

Jason
