Hwhup The Deans List? The Jason Dean here, bringing an end to the Weekend like it was a place in Marquette where you can put all your extra snow- it, um, no longer exists 🤷 I guess now there’s only one thing you can do- start launching extra snow into your neighbors yard and resign yourself to crawling back to the office tomorrow.
Anyways. Let’s get into it.
New Art in my own space
Here’s what I’ve been cooking up in the lab 😎
Grass + dew + sunlight = magic, folks- like this photo that I took last October at my parents house. With my handy dandy 105mm paintbrush, I just laid in the grass, turned the focus ring, and started pressing the shutter to capture the wonder all around me.
Did I get wet? Sure, but it’s fine. I’ll worry about being dry when I’m dead.
I love colorful scenery as much as the next guy (maybe more so if he’s wearing a blindfold), but I’m also a sucker for a nice, gray overcast winter evening like this one from an early January outing with Myles and Tony. I love the way the water was gently rippling while also holding some urgency. Dutch angle because Dutch angle.

A photo from this last…late summer? Early fall? A lady never kisses and tells. I just know that it’s a photo of leaves I took in my backyard with nary a snowflake or drop of frozen water to be seen anywhere.
You’re welcome.
There are a precious few times each year when the seasons overlap so succinctly as the last days of fall/first days of winter. When the leaves are freshly fallen (or sometimes even still on the trees!) and the temperatures dip below freezing is a sacred time where two separate dimensions open their gates and the world around you becomes the bridge to freely traverse the two.
This particular traversal is a photo of a leaf that lay frozen on my car windshield on an early November morning.
Valentine’s Day Sale
Valentine’s Day is just around the corner (although if Michaels displays are to be believe, St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner and I’m assuming Christmas can’t be too far behind. 🙄) and it’s time to start thinking about what to get that special someone in your life. Well you don’t have to look any further, friend, because I happen to sell very cool original artwork that I know will look great on their wall! And get this- everything in my online store is on sale for 14% off retail price between now and February 14, so you get an incredible gift while also saving money. I almost can’t believe it, except I made the sale so I can totally believe it.
2026 100 Day Project
Yes, folks, it’s that time already again- a new 100 Day Project is about to drop!
Last year, I used Ye Olde Glass Apple as a photo subject every day over the course of 100 days. I’ve talked about this before, but the Project played a huge role in my growth as an artist, as well as my decision to take the plunge into full-time artistry.
I was tempted to do something similar this year- after all, I love the idea of cumulative consecutive creation with my camera as a way to both stimulate creativity and measure growth over time. However, I also wanted to do something different; something with a more tactile element that also pushed me into a different creative space.
In the end, I decided to focus on a couple different projects. The first will be completing a Diamond Painting of one of my photographs, Lower Harbor Playground which also helps me do some product testing. But the main project is going to be an entirely different kind of project altogether!
I’m calling it ‘We, The Songs We’ve Sung’. I picked 100 of my favorite songs and a lyric from each of them. Each day, I'm going to write a lyric in marker on canvas while listening to the song it came from. My vision for the final product is a canvas covered in a rainbow of colors and a smattering of semi-legible words, the idea being to represent that each of us is an amalgamation of all of the things in life that have happened to us. We are, then, a song that is made up of all the songs we've sung before.
I’ll be posting progress photos on the ‘Gram. I've also mapped out the songs as a sort of journey/quest/thing at the link below, and have included links to the songs if you’re interested to know what I’m jamming out to on any given day. Please note that some songs are NSFW.
I can’t wait to see this one come to fruition!
Google Business
Lastly, I’ve officially created a Google Business page! That’s right, folks- one step further into legitimate businesshood.
I do have a request- if you’ve purchased a photo from me, be it at a craft show or on-line, or if I’ve taken photos of/for you- could you please leave me a review on Google? It would be a great way to help me out as I venture into the great, wide-world of Trying To Be Noticed In 2026!
Thanks for reading, friends! I hope you have a great week 🙂
See you around,
Jason
