Hwhup The Deans List? The Jason Dean here, bringing an end to the Weekend like it was the false spring that much of Michigan experienced this past week before Old Man Winter was like

Nope
Anyways. Let’s get into it.
New Art in my own space
Here’s what I’ve been cooking up in the lab 😎
A couple of months ago, I dropped off my car for repairs at Joe’s Auto and decided to wander around downtown Marquette taking pictures while I waited. Can I just say- it is incredible what you can find when randomly walking by the shores of Lake Superior during sunrise! Who knew? This photo was taken along the bike path by Founders Landing. The air was cold enough for some nice sea smoke off in the distance, right as the sun crossed the horizon. The weeds and grass along the bike path gave an interesting frame for the sun as its rising danced across the surface of the water and the skyline burned.
I’m considering putting this one in my shop for sale. If you think that’s a good idea, let me know in the comments!
Hoarfrost is a thing that I love to experience, but do not often get to. But on a mid-November morning while staying with my parents, I got to take my camera outside while the sun was rising and photograph the hoarfrost ❄ 🌅
I have lots, LOTS more from that particular morning. I love this shot of a fallen leaf resting in the frost-covered branch, but some of my favorite shots came from photographing the ring of fallen leaves around the outside of their pool cover, submerged in a shallow layer of water, the frost faeries already hard at work painting their hieroglyphs. I’m excited to bring those to you in the coming weeks and months!
Look, you knew more Christmas photos were coming. You knew, and you clicked on this newsletter anyways. I won’t be held responsible.
Real quick, I know you don’t always click on all the hyperlinks- and that’s okay! They can be a mixed bag if I’m honest. Sometimes it’s me sending you somewhere useful, and other times it’s a glimpse into the twisted, inner recesses of my mind. The above hyperlink is the latter, but I promise you it is well worth your time.
Anyways, that’s not why we’re here. I wanted to share a clip from a podcast talking about my Favoroto from 2025.
David and Korey are a couple of Michiganders with a photograph podcast that is heading into its third year. I love listening to these guys talk about photography; their passion and knowledge are inspiring! If you’re interested at all in photography- and even if you aren’t- you should check it out. Occasionally they put out calls for viewer/listener photo submissions that they then talk about on episodes. I’ve submitted a couple of times, and it is always so humbling when people who are knowledgeable in your craft give you praise and feedback.
Anyways, you should really watch the whole episode, but the link above takes you right to the spot where they talk about my image because I’m really proud of it and really appreciate all the nice things the guys had to say about it 🙂
New Product Alert!
I’m pleased to announce that I am now offering 8×10 Floating Metal Prints for sale! As of right now, these are only available online and retail for $69.00. The Floating Metal Prints are available to buy for all of my gallery images and would look great on your wall!
Quick one today- I have a free trial of BritBox that ends on Tuesday and I’m trying to watch as much Shetland as I can before then. I appreciate you joining me today, friends!
See you around,
Jason
