Hwhup The Deans List? The Jason Dean here, bringing an end to the Weekend part of Memorial Day weekend. I hope you have a safe Memorial Day with friends and family, celebrating the ultimate sacrifice paid by young men and women throughout our country’s history by grilling out. God bless America.

I wanted to let you know that I will be pausing my newsletter for the month of June. Astute readers will recognize that I’ve been a little spotty over the last few weeks with the newslettering, so like, do you even newsletter, bro? And that’s fair.

Hear me out though.

I’ve mentioned in this space that I am going through some things personally which has impacted my newsletter output. Those things are still ongoing, and the prayers and good thoughts you’ve given (that I am SO grateful for) are still needed and greatly appreciated. But that’s not why I’m pausing The Deans List.

No, I’m pausing The Deans List because I’m going to be on the road, like, all freaking month. Summers are always busy in my day job with traveling, but this year is especially so since I’ll basically be spending basically the whole of June away from home base. I’ll be in Detroit for large chunks of time, in the Thumb for a few days, and I’ll be spending Father’s Day weekend in Sault Ste Marie. Finally, the last week of June, I’ll be in Washington D.C. for a conference. Lots of sleeping in strange places for a long time.

Anything else going on? Oh yeah- I’m getting new glasses.

That might sound like a silly thing to impact my newsletter, but I haven’t got new glasses in several years. A couple years ago, I had The Talk (bi-focals) with my eye doctor, and I’ve started to feel it the last month or so. I have really been struggling physiologically with focusing on things, which has made working on the computer (which is where I make The Deans List) challenging and not super enjoyable. New glasses with bi-focal lenses have been ordered, but they won’t be here for me for a couple of weeks. I’m excited to be able to sit down at the computer again to start writing again, but for now I am going to step away, take a breath, and try to survive June.

Anyways. Let’s get into it.

Art

We’re dangerously close to summer, which means we are entering that time of year where there are no good reasons to share snow photos for awhile. I mean, sure, there were visible snowflakes in Marquette about week ago, and yeah I guess a couple days this week in Marquette dipped below freezing, but hey- not all of you live in Marquette so I guess I can’t hold you to the same self-mutilation that we Yoopers subject ourselves to.

Nevertheless, I have too many snow photos left, and not enough time, so here you go and I’m not sorry/sorry.

I have a few more snow photos in the queue that I’ll be dropping on Instagram over the next week. I know, I know- I left Facebook to start this newsletter and I made a big deal about it, but now I’m pausing the newsletter so I can post stuff on Instagram? Look, I’ve known for awhile that I’m an inconsistent hypocrite. I don’t know what to tell you 🤷

Still, if you are just not sure how the heck you’re going to make it through a whole month without hearing from me…you can always check out what I’m doing over in Instagramland.

Thank you again for being a supporter and sticking with me through the volatile journey that it must be like to follow me as an artist. I’m learning a lot about myself these days, and trying to work on being a healthier, better me.

I also know I didn’t share a Waves are Wednesdays post this past week. I’m really sorry for that folks. I know it’s not the same, but here’s the photo I would have shared then:

Photo was taken on April 3, 2025 at McCarty’s Cove in Marquette

Thank you so much for being a part of my story.

See you around,

Jason
