New Art in my own space

Here’s what I’ve been cooking up in the lab 😎 Apologies in advance, but these images are all going to be more negative than usual.

By ‘negative’, I literally mean turning the images into photo negatives.

Me so silly 😇

The two above images were taken at night in Ann Arbor back in February. I had some time to kill while waiting for my daughter’s Glee Club rehearsal to conclude and, as is my wont, wandered around with camera(s) in hand to do that.

The first image was taken with my 40mm 2.8 and the second images was taken with my 8mm fish eye. Both highlight the incredible trees that populate the University of Michigan’s campus and just how cool partially lit trees at night are.

This is a double exposure of a tree at Presque Isle, taken in March. One of my favorite double exposure techniques is to take an out-of-focus photo of a subject, then immediately auto-focus in on the subject for the second shot. It adds a soft, sort of painterly ethereal element to the photograph. Add in some polarity inversion and you have the kind of tree that Nazgûl would hang a swing from.

And again- Trees with no leaves > Trees with leaves (even during fall, don’t @ me).

Farmer’s Markets this week!

Farmer’s Market debut(s) this week! At time of release, I am hanging out at Castle 906 Market in Negaunee. On Wednesday, I’ll be at the downtown Marquette Farmer’s Market from 5-8.
