Waves are Wednesdays
Astute readers will recognize that the photo above is a waterfall, which is, strictly speaking, not a wave. And I know what you’re thinking, if what you’re thinking is what I think you’re thinking: “What gives, The Jason? Did you forget what waves are?”.
To which I have to admit that I did not forget what waves are; I just really wanted to share one of the images that popped out to me from Saturday’s waterfallooza! When I started sorting the photos, this one jumped right off the page at me and I had to start editing it right away. I was going to share it this weekend, but like a kid who slices small slits in the wrapping paper of their Christmas presents, I just couldn’t wait.
Can you blame me?
This is not, however, just a case of me being too excited to share an image. If you’ll allow me a moment to puff out my chest a bit, it’s also me planting my flag firmly in the drum that I pound to my own tune. My goal in making art is exactly to NOT conform to expectations. In doing so, I hope to shine a light on the question of just why, exactly, are expectations. In less than two weeks, I cut the socially acceptable tendril tether that I spent my whole life nurturing and get to see just how far I fall (or fly) when I leave The Mothership™ . Roads? Where we’re going, we don’t need roads.
But all of that internet bravado and real-life OHMYGODIMDOINGTHETHING are only possible because I have people like you encouraging and supporting me in this endeavor. Thank you, friend! It means a whole heck of a lot.
See you around,
Jason
